Ahh, The Weekend That Wasn't...
Well, this week was of course one of the coldest weeks in my life. Nothing like walking to your car and having your nose hairs freeze and having trouble breathing because your lungs are trying to jump into your coat pocket! But alas, the week ended and the frigid temps surrendered like a virgin on prom night. But it did give me the chance to do something I haven't done in, well, maybe never. What was it, you ask? yes, I stayed in all weekend...I watched movies, drank hot chocolate, slept, watched another movie, went to the movies, you starting to get it? It was nice, relaxing and most importantly...Cheap. I didn't realize how nice it was to go a weekend without spending 200$ on booze and bar food! And now Sunday has rolled around and I feel fresh, rejuvenated and excited to start a new week of work, WHAT? no, I did not say that! but this brings me to my point: the weekend is too short, why can't Fridays be a permanent half day at the minimum. People in this country take themselves too seriously. 2 weeks vacation for a year is a joke, and only having 2 days off every week is even worse. So I would like to start a petition to, at the bare bottom, make all Fridays half days and casual half days at that! Are you with me? I have always been used to the weekend going by quickly due to my binge drinking, waking up, showering and then drinking some more, I wake up and its like whoops! I got to go to work! But this weekend I didn't drink, I didn't party, I didn't steal a squad car, or walk home in the snow with no coat, and pass out by a tree( we all know who done that!) shout out! anyway, I didn't partake in the usual weekend and it was still way too short! what's the point of the weekend anymore? you can't even hardly count Sunday, cause all day you dread going to work the next day! So in the harsh reality of it all, you get one day off to enjoy a week! So please comment away and let me know if you are with me, to end the madness! Someone come up with a name for our movement? I can't wait to read what ya come up with!
Also, just to let you know, the movies of the weekend: Appaloosa-worth watching if you like old throw back westerns. Ed Harris is good in it, and the supporting cast provide believable roles and bring some life to their characters, the movie flows nicely and is entertaining, if you like the genre. Which I do. 2) Waitress, if you like pies you might like this little charmer, if you don't like pies, you will when it is over! It is a tale of dreaming for something better and blah blah blah...not that good..3) Gran Torino- Vintage Clint Eastwood was the headline I saw and it is pretty true. If you like Dirty Harry and what not you will like his performance as an old school war vet, hell bent on kicking some ass. The dialogue, with all the racist comments are pretty funny after you get past the initial shock of some of them and you realise you are suppose to laugh. It is worth seeing and does not go down the path you might be turned off by " and 8 year old man taking down a gang!" check it out. 4.) 7 pounds- the reviews have torn this movie apart, I do not know why? Maybe I have gone soft, or maybe it is my huge man crush on Will Smith, but I really enjoyed it, that is about all I can say without ruining it for ya. see it and let me know what you think. gotta run. Don't forget to stay tuned for a posting by "E" this week and for the first trial run of a video blog Feb 1st! Go and enjoy your week and remember when Friday rolls around.....Take a 1/2 Day!!!!

Help a Brother(s) Out
Okay peeps. Here is the deal. We are going to have our first video blog on February 1st and we are struggling to come up with a segment name for it. We are going to talk about: happenings of Loserville, sports and entertainment, current events and THE WORLD! Below you will find a chat the the two of us had regarding the name, to shed a little more light on the subject. We are wanting it to be a vlog that is no longer than 5 minutes and one or both of us will be making an appearance every episode. HELP US OUT! Give us your ideas and suggestions and then we will put a pole up and we can vote on the winning name. Just leave your suggestions in the comment area, you do not have to register to comment! (And as you will find out in the chat...YES, I do watch American Idol)

Hey Hollywood...YOU SUCK, well kinda.
Man, I love the movies. There use to be nothing like going to your local theater, grabbing a $1 Icee and some $2 Milkduds and sitting down for a preview or two and watching a great flick. Wow has that changed!
I understand that there is inflation and things are going to cost more as time goes on, but come on! If I want to take my wife out to an evening movie, it costs at least $30. It cost half that in say the early to mid nineties when I was in middle and high school. Well you know then, you really weren't worried about the actual movie or the cost of it. You were just worried about getting your hands down you girlfriends pants, and she was worried if Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan were going to hook up in Sleepless in Seattle.
I know the same argument can be made from generation to generation, but here is why it is different now:
1. Hollywood's quality and originality is on a steep decline
That is the only point I am making because that is the only valid argument.
I think it speaks volumes when the best actor of our time, and possibly ever, Daniel Day-Lewis, has acted his way through nine movies (working on his 10th) since 1989. It speaks to the lack of quality scripts and ideas in Hollywood. Sure Tom Cruise, Will Smith and Brad Pitt get the laddies in the theaters and Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman and Robert DeNiro are masters of their craft, but they have all stood in line and sucked from the sweet teet of Hollywood to take away millions of dollars from moviegoers in such films as, The Ladykillers, Joe Versus the Volcanoe, Danny the Dog, Nurse Betty, Analyze This, and The Fan.
This all hits home to me as I watch the results of the Golden Globes online. It makes me mad that I have not seen any of the movies that have been nominated for best film. The only movie that I can even have a good beat on is Dark Knight and Heath Ledger was great in it, but again, Batman, how many times can that be done??
Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. nominated for best supporting actor in Tropic Thunder...what??
Anyway, the way that Hollywood operates now turns me off to the theater, and it causes me to miss some good and maybe even great films. You have to go to an independent type film theater to see a film of any substance, at least here in Indianapolis. Or rent it from another Hollywood whore, Blockbuster or Netflix, when it comes out on DVD. Honestly the last great film I saw was No Country for Old Men and that is only because my wife made me go on a man date with one of her girlfriends husbands while they went a watched Juno. I'm glad I did it though, because it gave me hope again that there are folks out there that get it.
If only it didn't cost me $10 to get in the theater and I had to sit through 8 trailers of independent filmmakers that are trying like hell to make it, but can't crack the old frat club that is Hollywood.
"If you've heard a bad review, disregard. If you've heard a great review, disregard. If it has made millions, disregard. If it is last in the box office, disregard. If Eddie Murphy is involved, run like hell!" - E

Passion? what the what?
Alright everyone, time to get real. If you have a television set you in no doubt noticed that it is indeed award season for film and tv actors and actresses. Every night of the week it has been the peoples choice awards( garbage), Screen Actors Guild Awards (not bad), Golden globes etc. I, more than anyone, appreciates this time of year, because the one thing I truly care about is film and acting performances, and this gives me the platform to have constructive conversations around some of the best/ worst films and performances of the year. If you must know: thus far: best Actor: Sean Penn for MILK, With having not seen it yet, Mickey Rourke in a close second! Who as we speak just won the Golden Globe for Best Actor! Timing is everything! Passion is what drives people to be better than the rest. To be Great. To be above the norm...Who could represent this more than Mickey Rourke? This guy has perservered more than anyone in hollywood. He was blacklisted by the hollywood elite. Shunned by his peers and shunned by directors, but he stuck with it, he fought (literally), in and out of the ring. And now, he is about to be on top of the world! It all comes down to passion. What drives a man? What makes us who we are? there are people who accept what life has dealt them, and then there are those who say, what the fuck, I am better than this. I never want to be the person who accepts what life has dealt them. Are you kidding me? Life is short. You should grab hold of your dreams and never let go. Whatever it may be? If you don't want to be an accountant anymore then go in and quit tomorrow and open that bagel shop you wanted to. Or write that novel you wanted to. whatever it may be, you should go after it. who wants to die and say, wow? I never did or accomplished anything "I" wanted. People will tell you to pay bills, you need a job, what about your 401k? blah, blah, blah. Passion, is what life is all about, Passion is what moves you. It is the the thing that could make you great at what you want to pursue. Most people are scared to death to go after their dream. because of all the things people tell them they have to do. You DONT have to do anything! Do what you Want!
I watch these award shows and I see an entire cast of actors/ actresses in tv and film and I see them appreciate, truly appreciate each other's talent and skills. I see them and they live life with such peace. they all have a look of satisfaction in their eyes. Why ? Because they went after their dreams, they have that passion that we should all strive for. They are doing what the set out to do in life and that means something. So to everyone out there, go after your dreams, who knows you might end up with and Oscar? So, goodnight my fellow seakers of dreams. I hope to see you all on the bg screen, or whatever it may be that you desire. Please don't let other people's reality dictate how you live your life? Chase your dream, who knows, you might catch it!
